ODI World Cup 2023: Hasan Ali likely to miss match against South Africa in Chennai

Pakistan will take on South Africa at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 27. While the Babar Azam-led side are coming into this game post a shocking defeat against Afghanistan, the Proteas Men are having a dream run, registering some of the highest scores in the ongoing showpiece tournament.

However, the Men in Green have been handed a blow ahead of their do-or-die clash as pace bowler Hasan Ali is likely to miss this game. According to the PCB officials, the star pacer has been advised rest in order to keep him fit for the remainder of the matches of the tournament as he has been suffering from high fever.

It is to be further added that the bowler did not join the side for the team’s training session on Thursday due to illness. The report further added that, bowling all-rounder Mohammad Wasim Jr. is expected to replace Ali for the game against South Africa in Chennai.

Talking about Hasan’s performance so far in ODI World Cup 2023, the pacer has taken eight wickets in five games with his best figures of 4/71 coming against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad. It is to be further added that Punjab-born cricketer was named Naseem Shah’s last-minute replacement.
