ODI World Cup 2023: Indian lawyer files complaint over Md Rizwan offering namaz during PAK vs NED; picture surfaces

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team are in India for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. While the Men in Green were riding high on confidence as they first beat Netherlands by 81 runs and then beat their Asian rivals in Sri Lanka by six wickets, their winning streak was stopped by the hosts, Team India in a one-sided thriller on Saturday, October 14.

In both their wins which came in Hyderabad, wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Rizwan played a crucial knock. While he scored 68 off 75 deliveries against Netherlands, he scored his first century of CWC 2023 against Sri Lanka. While all rested well until his video of offering prayers on the ground went viral.

In a worrisome development now, a complaint has been filed against Muhammad Rizwan by an Indian lawyer for his gesture of offering namaz on the ground and voicing his support for Gaza. Indian lawyer but the name Vineet Jindal addressed to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Greg Barclay, objecting to Rizwan offering prayer as “it defeated the spirit of sports” urging the cricketing body to take stringent action.

“This complaint about Pakistan Cricket Player, Mohammad Rizwan, who was seen offering namaz on the cricket field during his team’ opening match of the ongoing ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 on Friday (October 6) against the Netherlands in Hyderabad,” his addressed started.

It is to be further noted that Jindal earlier filed a complaint against Pakistani sports presenter Zainab Abbas, who was in India for the ongoing ICC Men’ Cricket World Cup 2023 and left the sib-continent on October 9, citing personal reasons.
