ODI World Cup 2023: India’s expected playing XI against Afghanistan

India will be playing their second match of ODI World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan in Delhi on 11th October. Last time India played an ODI game against this Afghan side was way back in 2019 ODI World Cup, hence these two sides will face each other after a period of four years.

India would be very high on confidence after a stunning victory against Australia in their opening game and are clearly the favorites to win this match. Here, in this article we will see the expected playing XI of Team India against Afghanistan.

Openers: Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is expected to open the innings with Ishan Kishan once again, since Shubman Gill has been ruled out of this game.

Middle Order: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul
India will play one of the greatest ODI batter, Virat Kohli at number 3 position and KL Rahul is expected to keep wickets for them. Shreyas Iyer has been a very good player of spin, hence he will play a good role to decimate the Afghan bowling attack.

All-Rounders: Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin

Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja would be a key pair of all-rounders for Team India in this tournament while Ravichandran Ashwin is expected to continue ahead of Shardul Thakur, since Delhi pitch would assist the spinners more than the fast bowlers.

Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be frontline pacers for Team India and alongside these two bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav brings a X-factor to this side with his current form. He could be the real threat for the opponent and his combo with Ashwin and Jadeja can do wonders for the side.
