KL Rahul will play as wicketkeeper-batter  for the Men in Blue, who has been the most dependable player in middle order during crisis situation and Suryakumar Yadav is expected to play at number 6 position in the absence of Hardik Pandya. Shreyas Iyer despite struggling to play short balls is expected to play ahead of Ishan Kishan at that important number 4 position.

All-Rounder: Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja will be the only all-rounder to play for India in the absence of Hardik Pandya who is expected to be out for both the upcoming matches, against SL and SA respectively. India will be going with only five bowling options due to the absence of their vice-captain Hardik Pandya.

Bowlers: Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj
