ODI World Cup 2023: Will Hardik Pandya play against England in Lucknow?

The Rohit Sharma-led Team India might be in their prime form as they are unbeaten in the quadrennial tournament. While they beat five-time champions Australia in their tournament opener, they continued their winning runs, beating Afghanistan, arch-rivals Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand to firm their place at the top of the table.

The Men in Blue will next face reigning champions, England at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on October 29 but with injury looming in their campaign, the team is likely to go with the same XI. However, Hardik Pandya’s injury hasn’t hindered the team much as all players have been doing their part with excellence, he is likely to miss the next two matches of the game.

While the fast bowling all-rounder is recovering from the ankle injury, he remains to be out for the next few games of the side. Hardik injured his ankle while attempting to stop a shot from Litton Das with his foot during India’s match against Bangladesh. With scans done, Pandya is reportedly recovering at the NCA in Bengaluru.

According to an Indian Express report, Pandya will be available for the last two league matches against South Africa (November 5), and Netherlands (November 12) as the medical team will wait for a few more days. However, an official announcement on the same is still awaited.
