Sachin Tendulkar’s king-sized statue to be unveiled at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium ahead of IND vs SL; videos surface

Cricket is often perched like a religion in India and having aid that, several Indian cricketers and greats of the game are worshiped next to god. Among many such, followed and preached is former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Often revered as ‘God of Cricket’, the Master Blaster has been a synonym of the game, not only in India but across.

To honour the ‘God of Cricket’, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium has unveiled a life-sized statue ahead of India’s next game in the ODI World Cup 2023. Sachin’s former home ground, decided to honour the Indian maestro with this special gift on his 50 th  birthday, which was earlier this year in April. Additionally, the statue has been placed beside Sachin Tendulkar stand and will be unveiled by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shine, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, the former Indian cricketer himself, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah among others.

The statue has been designed by renowned sculptor Pramod Kamble of Ahmednagar and commemorates Sachin’s last international appearance at the Wankhede Stadium, from a match against West Indies in a Test series in November 2013.

Talking more about Sachin’s appearances at Wankhede Stadium, he has played 11 ODIs in his home ground and scored 445 runs at an average of 41.36 with one century to his name. The former India star batter has played most matches in his Test career (200), also scoring most runs (15921) in the longest format of the game.
