The danger man is back: Fans react as Travis Head score fastest fifty in ODI World Cup 2023

Five-time champions Australia are taking on the 2019 finalists in New Zealand in Match 27 of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. While this stands as a rivalry between the Trans-Tasman nations, the action unfolds this time in India at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Winning the toss, the Tom Latham-led side invited the Aussies to bat first and who would know what was coming in next.

The Aussie openers, which has seen Travis Head return post recovery of the fractured thumb, smash the fastest fifty in the ongoing World Cup, which also happens to be the joint fastest now in the ICC events. Not only Head, but last match centurion David Warner also smashed a half-century off 28 balls, to give the Kiwis a forgettable start.

Fans did not sit quietly watching the two openers smash the Kiwi bowlers all around the park as they took to social media to heap praise on the two batters, especially Head, who marks a return post an injury.

Talking about the two sides, while the Kiwis are third in the standings post South Africa’s one-wicket win over Pakistan to claim the top spot, Australia dropped down to the fourth place having won four games out of the five played so far in the tournament.
