However, the Tom Latham-led side will aim to get back to winning ways as they take on South Africa at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on November 1. Ahead of the match, stand-in skipper Tom Latham provided a huge update on the injury concerns in the side.

Despite of missing the first few games for the side, Kane Williamson returned to the field, but was forced to miss the next few games with fractured thumb. However, the injury ruled him out of the subsequent matches, the New Zealand Cricket called in Tom Bundell as his replacement.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, on being asked on the update of Williamson, Ferguson and Mark Chapman, Tom Latham stated that they will be assessed after training on October 31. “Yeah, just as I said before, there’s Lockie, Kane and Mark Chapman. We’ll obviously get through hopefully a bit of work today and then we’ll see how they pull up from a selection point of view”, he said.

“But yeah, obviously, Lockie went off in the last game with a bit of Achilles’ niggle, so fingers crossed he’ll be fine for tomorrow,” he further added on Lockie Ferguson’s injury.
