Cricket fans lauded Australia batter Glenn Maxwell for smashing the fastest century in the history of the ODI World Cup. Australia locked horns with the Netherlands in the 24th fixture of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on October 25, Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Australia skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and invited their rivals to field first. The Kangaroos, who were coming on the back of a win over Pakistan, continued their red-hot form and gave the game an explosive start.

Maxwell, who came to bat at sixth for the Baggy Greens, went on to slam the fastest century in the history of the ODI World Cup. The cricketer hit three consecutive maximums to complete a ton in 40 deliveries and recorded the fastest-ever century in the format. The 35-year-old contributed six more runs to the scoreboard before returning to the pavilion off Logan van Beek’s delivery in the last over of the Aussie innings.
