Unbelievable day for India: Fans slam Indian fielders for dropping three New Zealand catches in CWC 2023

The Indian cricket team had to face the wrath of fans after a poor display of fielding efforts against New Zealand. The Men in Blue, with an unbeaten record of four games, locked horns with 2019 finalists New Zealand at the HPCA Stadium in ODI World Cup 2023 on October 22, Sunday. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first, aiming for an easy victory over the Blackcaps.

However, contrary to everyone’s expectations, Indian fielder s displayed poor fielding efforts and went on to drop three crucial catches in the match. Ravindra Jadeja, who is regarded as one of the best fielders in the team, dropped Rachin Ravindra’s catch in the 11th over. Needless to say, the hosts paid a hefty price for the same as Ravindra went on to score 75 runs off 87 deliveries. It was KL Rahul who next dropped a Daryl Mitchell’s catch in the 30th over, which also ended up costing the team quite a lot, courtesy Mitchell’s ODI century. 

Later, Jasprit Bumrah ended up dropping another easy catch in the 33rd over, bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. The poor fielding by two-time world champions took social media by storm and fans poured in their criticism and frustration on Twitter. Here’s what fans had to say: 

Notably, India defeated Bangladesh by a margin of seven wickets in their last fixture played on October 19, Thursday and will aim to continue their winning run in the tournament.
