WATCH: Fan throws popcorn bucket at Neymar after Brazil’s draw against Venezuela

The Brazilian football star Neymar was hit on his head with a popcorn bucket thrown by a fan, after he took part in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier – CONMEBOL, on Thursday, October 12. Before this unfortunate incident, which caused the PSG footballer to lose his cool in public, Brazil could only manage to secure a 1-1 draw against Venezuela, at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba.

The first goal of the contest came after a brilliant setup from Neymar, which led to Gabriel Magalhaes smashing the ball in the back of the net, to put Brazil ahead in the 50th minute. But, against the run of play, Venezuela equalised through Eduard Bello in the 85th minute, to give them a valuable point on the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier – CONMEBOL standings.

After the conclusion of the pulsating encounter, when Neymar left the pitch at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba, a fan threw the bucket full of popcorn, which hit his head. When the Brazilian footballer was struck, he instantly looked up at the grandstand, exchanging anything but pleasantries with the culprit, while the rest of the team and support staff restrained him from making things worse before forcing him to go into the tunnel.

Fernando Diniz, the coach of Brazil, condemned the fan’s action and said, “I completely disapprove. Cursing and booing are fine. Throwing a bag of popcorn doesn’t do anything for anyone. It’s disrespectful towards those who came to play and tried to do the best they could.”
