WATCH: Mohammad Hafeez calls for transparency at toss in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 in underway in the Indian subcontinent and all ten teams are currently in race to seal the semifinals berth. While the host nation, India are riding high on their form, having won all five games so far in the showpiece tournament, their arch-rivals Pakistan are fifth in the standings, post a shocking defeat at the hands of Afghanistan.

While the team works to come back in the tournament, former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a change in order to call for some transparency. Speaking on a Pakistani news channel, Hafeez requested the organising body to use spider cameras for toss results.

Recalling an incident from 2012, Hafeez quoted, “I was the captain of Pakistan; it was a World Cup match and the tournament director of the ICC. I made a request to him and gave him a suggestion that the ICC should have spider cameras to record the results and make them public by zooming on the coin when it drops for more clarity.”

However, he made his stance clear by adding, “I’m not doubting anyone’s credibility, but that call should be shown publicly to the fans and world for better clarity.”
