WATCH: NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr escapes serious injuries as car catches fire at Roval 40

NASCAR racer Ricky Stenhouse Jr escaped some serious injuries at the Bank of America Roval 400 in Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday, October 8. Stenhouse’s car caught fire during the race when he was 100 laps into the race. With this, Stenhouse, who was earlier eliminated from the playoff contention after the Bristol race last month, was forced out of the race when his vehicle filled with smoke during lap 96.

However, luckily, the 36-year-old racer was able to escape fatal injuries as he climbed out of his car within minutes of the accident. Later, the emergency crew came to extinguish the flames. The Mississippi-born finished the race at the 34th spot.

Stenhouse made it to the playoffs, by virtue of his Daytona 500 win at the start of the season. However, the NASCAR racer failed to qualify for the round of 12 as he was eliminated along with Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick and Michael McDowell. The race saw A.J. Allmendinger overtake William Byron to win the Bank of America Roval 400 race.

The race saw Byron, Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, Chris Buescher, Tyler Reddick, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell and Ryan Blaney qualifying for the NASCAR Playoffs.
