After a record-breaking performance of the Indian contingent at the 19th Asian Games, former Indian athlete P.T. Usha said that it’s time India should bid for the Olympic Games. The President of the International Olympic Committee has now said that there are serious considerations over the same. Apart from that, Indian shuttler PV Sindhu, who has been suffering from bad form announced her comeback at the Arctic Open 2023 as she took down former World Number 1  Nozomi Okuhara.

There is serious consideration and interest in hosting Olympics in India: IOC Chief

The  International Olympic Committee chief  Thomas Bach said that there is serious consideration and interest in India for hosting the Olympics. Former Indian athlete P.T. Usha had said that it’s time India should bid for the Olympics 2036. Bach said,  “We have so far noted that there’s a great interest and there are apparently serious considerations here within India (to bid for the Games). We have to wait now how this will turn into a project and will be brought forward to us. Only then we can form an opinion.” 

Young India is no longer satisfied with just good performance: Narendra Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Indian medal winners at the 19th Asian Games on October 10, Tuesday. Modi congratulated the players, coaches and support staff and said that the young India is no longer satisfied with just good performance. 

The Indian PM said,  “The new thinking of young India is no longer satisfied with just good performance, rather it wants medals and wins.  I assure you that lack of money will never be a hindrance to your efforts.” 

He also heaped praise on Indian women athletes for their performance in the continental tournament. Modi added,  “The government will pull all stops to ensure the athletes get the best. You have crossed 100 medals. Next time, we will go way past this record. Put your best effort for the Paris (Olympics).”

Amirmohammad Zafardanesh becomes most expensive player on day 2 of Pro Kabaddi Season 10 auction

After some magnificent bids on day 1 of the Pro Kabaddi Season 10 player auction, day 2 also saw some very attractive bids for players of category C and D. On the second day, Amir Mohammad Zafardanesh, became the most expensive player, after he was bought by U Mumba for INR 68 lac. Notably, Pro Kabaddi Season 10 is set to kick off on December 2.

That’s Rafa’s opinion and I, of course, don’t agree: Novak Djokovic on Rafael Nadal’s frustration remark

World Number 1 tennis player and 25-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic opened up on Rafael Nadal’s comment about him. Djokovic said, “I’ve seen that his comments went viral, that many people spoke about it. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, how they interpret someone else in a certain context etc. That’s all I can say. Rafa is a great champion and I respect and appreciate him as such – as a great champion, my biggest rival and as a player who contributed to shaping my game and to the results I’ve accomplished.” 

The Serbian added,  “I have no intention of speaking in a negative light about him or Roger Federer – my respect towards them supersedes some negative opinions I might have. Again, that’s Rafa’s opinion and I, of course, don’t agree. I have my opinion, but I won’t share it as I don’t want us to go deeper into that. There is no need for that.”

PV Sindhu strolls past Nozomi Okuhara in first round of Arctic Open 2023

Former world number 2 PV Sindhu moved past former world champion Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the first round of Arctic Open 2023. A two-time Olympic Medalist, Sindhu defeated Okuhara 21-13, 21-6 in women’s singles event in Vantaa, Finland on Tuesday, October 10. Sindhu, who has been going through a rough patch off late, marked her 10th victory over the Japanese rival in their 19th clash against each other.

Harry Maguire has revealed that David Beckham called him after England’s win over Scotland last month to offer the centre-back advice on how to handle the abuse on social media. Maguire was targeted with a lot of abuse  after coming on as a substitute at Hampden Park.  He was also jeered by Scotland fans add insult to injury.

Juventus’ Fagioli caught in investigation for illegal betting

Nicolo Fagioli is being investigated for alleged illegal betting activities, as confirmed by prosecutor.  La Stampa Daily reported the 22-year-old was part of a criminal probe targeting users of illegal online betting platforms, along with other unnamed suspects.

LIV Golf players lose bid to earn world ranking points

LIV Golf’s bid to have its players earn ranking points has been unanimously rejected by the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). The decision was taken due to concerns about the Saudi Arabia-backed circuit’s format.  OWGR Chairman Peter Dawson released a letter on Tuesday to LIV Golf’s Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer stating that “at this time” LIV Golf will not be recognised as an Eligible Golf Tour.

FIA to investigate Lance Stroll over Qatar F1 garage incident

Lance Stroll is under FIA investigation for breaching Formula 1 rules and procedures during his garage strop at the Qatar Grand Prix. Stroll was under the scanner for throwing a tantrum after an early qualifying exit. Talking about the incident, An FIA spokesman talked about organisation “in discussion” with the Canadian “in relation to several incidents that may have contravened FIA rules, policies and procedures”.
