Red Bull’s Design Chief Adrian Newey will reportedly leave the team after the Christian Horner scandal. Notably, Germany-based Audi reached a deal for a full takeover of Sauber last month and is planning to field a team from the 2026 season. According to Sauber’s statements, Hulkenberg would be “an important building block” in the process.

Red Bull’s Design Chief Adrian Newey will reportedly leave the team after the Christian Horner scandal. Newey has been a part of the team for more than 18 years and has expressed his unhappiness over the power struggle between Horner and Helmut Marko that ensued ever since Horner’s mistreatment of female employees in the team broke out. Newey is signed to Red Bull till 2025, but it has been reported that the design head may just explore options to exit the team.

Rafael Nadal took down teenage wildcard Darwin Blanch 6-1, 6-0 in the first round of the Madrid Open on Thursday. In the second round, he will face Australian 10th seed Alex de Minaur. Nadal broke his much younger rival in the second game before he grabbed the first set in just 28 minutes. The age gap between the pair was 21 years and 117 days, which is the biggest ever gap between two opponents at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament. In the game, Blanch committed 27 unforced errors in the game which was his second ATP tour. 

I’m not going to play in Paris the way I’m feeling: Rafael Nadal on French Open participation

Rafael Nadal said that he isn’t too optimistic about playing at the French Open next month. He said that he wouldn’t be playing in Paris if he felt the same way he felt ahead of his opening match in the Madrid Open. Nadal said, “The sensations haven’t been perfect this week. If it wasn’t Madrid, maybe I wouldn’t play. But there are a lot of emotions involved. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the following three weeks. I’ll keep fighting and doing the things that I think I need to do to play in Paris. And if it’s possible, then it’s possible. If not, then not. I’m not going to play in Paris the way I’m feeling today. If it was Paris, I wouldn’t be playing.”

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez will miss the rest of the season after his groin surgery on Thursday. He has been suffering with a hernia for several weeks and also struggled to make an impact in the game against Arsenal where the side registered a 5-0 win. He will miss Chelsea’s last six games and it remains to be seen if he can recover in time for the upcoming Copa America in June. The club statement read, “Enzo Fernandez has today undergone successful surgery on a groin issue and will now begin a period of rehabilitation, sidelining him for the remainder of Chelsea’s 2023/24 season.” 

Supreme Court issues show cause notice to AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey

The Supreme Court of India issued a show cause notice to Kalyan Chaubey for failing to appear before the Calcutta High Court in an election petition filed by himself, asking why he shouldn’t be relieved of the AIFF President and the IOA Joint Secretary posts. As per the court, the 47-year-old is delaying court orders wilfully, and non-bailable warrants will be issued if he doesn’t appear before the Calcutta High Court. Notably, Kalyan Chaubey, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, had filed an election petition against Sadhan Pande, the now-deceased leader of the Trinamool Congress, challenging his election from the Maniktala constituency in the West Bengal Assembly election of 2021.
