Who is Ashutosh Sharma? – Indian cricketer to break Yuvraj Singh’s record of fastest fifty

The Indian domestic season is also underway alongside the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. On the second day of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 (MAT 2023) saw several records break as earlier Punjab posted their highest-ever total, courtesy Abhishek Sharma, Anmolpreet Singh’s blistering inning.  

However, in the match between the Railways and Arunachal Pradesh at the Jharkhand Cricket Association Oval Ground in Ranchi, Ashutosh Sharma etched his name in record books as he broke the record of former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh to set a new benchmark.

The young Indian cricketer stole the limelight with a 12-ball 53 in the Railways’ win by 127 runs. Ashutosh reached his half-century in just 11 balls and recorded the fastest half-century by an Indian player in the shortest format of the game. The record, which was previously held by Yuvraj Singh, had registered this feat in 2007 T20 World Cup match between India and England at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.
